Jess (they/them) is a multihyphenate nonbinary theatre artist who is passionate about the power of storytelling and the importance of accessibility in the arts. They started their work with Plays in Place in 2022 and instantly fell in love with the magic of unflattening the history around them through producing site-specific work.
Jess holds a BFA in Theatre and Performance from Emerson College and an American Sign Language Interpreter Certificate from Northern Essex. Throughout their time in Boston, they have also collaborated with Huntington Theatre Company, Commonwealth Shakespeare Company, Broadway in Boston, Lyric Stage Company of Boston, American Repertory Theater, ArtsEmerson, Wheelock Family Theatre, Speakeasy Stage Company, Fresh Ink Theatre Company, Open Door Theatre Company, Boston Playwrights’ Theater, Seacoast Repertory Theatre, and CentaStage. Beyond Boston, Jess’ work has been seen in fringe festivals from Providence, Rhode Island to Edinburgh, Scotland.
In addition to Jess’ theatrical work, they are a American Sign Language Interpreter who specializes in Mental Health and Performing Arts Interpreting. They are proud to be part of the Plays in Place team as a Producer, Consultant, and Access Coordinator.
